Mother and daughter depart on international BPW mission with agenda at the United Nations
Sandra Yokota represents Western São Paulo through BPW Prudente, while her daughter Martha Moraes joins the Brazilian youth delegation in global discussions on women’s leadership in New York.
Mother and daughter departed on March 4 from São Paulo International Airport to New York. The trip marks the beginning of an international mission that brings together leadership, female representation, and the exchange of knowledge.
On one side, Sandra Yokota, president of BPW Prudente, participates in the agenda as the institutional representative of Western São Paulo. In this role, she brings the voice of women entrepreneurs from the region to the international stage.
At the same time, Martha Moraes joins the program as a young Brazilian invited by BPW Brazil. In doing so, she represents the country’s youth in global discussions on women’s leadership.
BPW International Leaders’ Summit brings together female leaders from around the world
The first agenda takes place on March 6 and 7, during the BPW International Leaders’ Summit 2026.
The event gathers leaders from Business and Professional Women (BPW) organizations from several countries. In addition, it promotes discussions on entrepreneurship, innovation, professional development, and strengthening the global network of women.
Currently, BPW is present in more than 100 countries. For this reason, it is globally recognized for promoting the economic, political, and social empowerment of women.
During the summit, Sandra Yokota participates in institutional discussions as president of BPW Prudente. This participation strengthens international connections that may expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the region.
Project presented by Martha Moraes proposes digital inclusion for women 50+
In addition to the institutional participation, the program also includes the presentation of projects.
In this context, Martha Moraes will present an initiative focused on digital inclusion for women over 50 years old.
The proposal aims to transform technology into a tool for autonomy, learning, and opportunity creation. In this way, it seeks to expand access to the digital world for women who have often been left behind by technological transformations.
Martha is currently a student at the Link School of Business in São Paulo. She also has international experience through an exchange program in Europe and participation in international BPW events.
For this reason, she was invited by BPW Brazil to join the Brazilian youth delegation. The invitation highlights her engagement and ability to contribute in international environments.
Delegation also participates in gender equality discussions at the United Nations
After the summit, the international agenda continues.
Between March 9 and 19, the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) takes place at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN).
This event is considered the main global forum dedicated to promoting gender equality. As a result, it brings together government leaders, experts, and representatives from civil society.
During the discussions, topics include:
-
access to justice for women and girls
-
women’s participation in decision-making spaces
-
combating gender-based violence
-
strategies for women’s economic empowerment
Meanwhile, Sandra follows the institutional agendas of BPW as the representative of the organization in Presidente Prudente. Martha participates in activities focused on youth engagement and the exchange of experiences among young leaders from different countries.
Representation of Western São Paulo in global discussions
For Sandra Yokota, an entrepreneur, engineer, and co-owner of Terra Parque Eco Resort, the international mission has an even deeper meaning.
The resort, managed alongside her husband Julio Moraes, welcomes visitors from all over Brazil. Therefore, it also represents the strength of regional entrepreneurship.
According to Sandra, participating in international agendas strengthens not only the organization but also the entire region.
“When we broaden our view of the world, we also expand opportunities for our city. Being at the UN and at an international BPW meeting strengthens our board, our members, and all the women entrepreneurs in Presidente Prudente and the surrounding region. For me, it is even more meaningful to experience this moment alongside my daughter, witnessing a new generation of Brazilian women ready to contribute ideas and solutions to the world.”
Thus, the international experience broadens perspectives and reinforces the commitment to initiatives that support women’s development in the region.
Brazilian youth present in discussions about the future
Likewise, Martha Moraes highlights the importance of youth participation in these spaces.
According to her, the international meeting represents a unique opportunity for learning and exchanging experiences.
“Representing Brazilian youth and being together with young leaders from other countries at such an important event is a unique opportunity to learn. In addition, exchanging experiences helps build new ideas. Being in these spaces reinforces how important it is for young people to actively participate in discussions that help shape the future.”
An international journey that connects generations
Finally, the participation in New York marks a symbolic moment for mother and daughter.
Together, they represent different Brazilian generations in a journey of knowledge, representation, and international connection.
While Sandra Yokota strengthens the work of BPW Prudente and women entrepreneurs in the region, Martha Moraes brings the voice of Brazilian youth to global discussions on women’s leadership and development.
In this way, the international mission reinforces the importance of women’s presence in decision-making spaces and the value of dialogue between generations to create new opportunities for the future.
